Have finally secured a date to return to see the top man in Croydon to get me eye sorted out hopefully instead of being stuck in the orrible situation I have endured for the last 10 years.

I will let peeps know how it all goes once I am able to see again afterwards.

Why's this in the test forum?

Anyway, the very best of luck with it.

No shit, Miss Marple.

Cos there doesn't seem to be any other way of getting it onto the calender. As far as I could work out you have to post something somewhere to get an event onto the calender so I thought I would put it somewhere where nobody would notice it and the event would then duly pop up in about 6 weeks time.
How was I to know you lot would go reading the Test forum!!!

Thanks for the good luck messages - I will be the first in this country to have 5 operations on the same eye if it all goes well. Maybe even get the other eye done so my poor brain cell doesn't have to work quite so hard working with one very long sighted and one very short sighted eye at the same time.

More nearer the time - maybe in the Chat forum next time. Smiley

And seeing as how I didn't actually think this post was going to get read anyway I should add that I am scheduled for the return trip to Croydon on Friday 27th October so it is some time off yet.

Part two reply - it seems to have escaped from the Test forum to the Chat forum for some reason. Huh Huh

I put it in Test cos it wasn't really meant to be read, looks like someone thought I had made a mistook and moved it here.

You can blame me for that one, I suggested it should be moved.

You wouldn't have been the first to have posted in the wrong forum by mistake, and although I did already know your surgery wasn't until late October, I thought you were just letting people know you'd finally received a date for it.

Someone did! Didn't make any difference though - probably why you don't see many events posted on the calender.

It says
Quote
Where this option has been configured (it's not standard 'out of the box'), you can post an event by selecting Calendar from the main menu followed by Post Event from the calendar screen. What you see now is a Start new topic screen with supplementary fields for the event title, date and target board, which simply add your event to the calendar and create a link back to your post in that board
which suggests that you "start a new topic" so do you not have to actually post something somewhere?  thinking

When you post something to the calender, it stashes it, then it's the calender that posts it to the board at the appropriate time, so although the tool 'looks' similar, it behaves differently.

If that's the case, why did Casper's thread which was associated to his adding an event to the calender appear yesterday and not on the 27th October? If you look at this event in the calender, and click the link it created, you'll see you're taken to this thread.

It looks to me as though the associated thread is posted at the time the event is added, and not on the date the event actually occurs.

Razor added the 'Talk like a pirate day' event. How do I know this? Because the link in the calender associated to that event takes you back to a thread of his he attempted to delete and couldn't.

Can you or can you not just stick a date on the calendar and not make a post ?
