Cool. I like it having the standard 12" version on the flip. The US mix is better, but only just. Having the words (to the standard version) on the front cover is cool too.

Somewhere in the depths of my collection is 'Cavern' by Liquid Liquid.

Relevance?

That's where that iconic drum and bass loop was lifted from.

Yep. Though, strictly speaking, it was re-recorded by the Sugar Hill house band, but they did do a very precise copy.

Question - when Duran Duran covered White Lines later on, did they record that loop themselves? Or if not, which of the two did they grab? Digital sampling was available by then, albeit still rudimentary.

I can't see me listening to that monstrosity just to answer that one. But I'd guess they re-recorded it as that would be the simplest option.
But DD should never do cover versions.

Steve Reich & Musicians "Drumming". The 1974 recording and it still sounds damn fine. Relentless, complex and shot through with a simple joy in life's possibilities.

Miles Davis "Agharta".
Best jazz-rock fusion yet recorded? Possibly. Miles was so hot at that time, he recorded two double albums in one day*.

* the aformention 'Agharta' and 'Pangaea'.
