This ain't at all bad, for a freebie.

It's not "Blaze Media Pro", nor "Camtasia Studio", but it's clean, clear and easy to use, giving more than acceptable results.

It's called "Avidemux".

http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux

Linux, BSD, Mac OS X and Windows under the GNU GPL license.

Have you installed it on Ubuntu yet? Grin

Not yet.

The only drawback with it, that I know of, is it's reliance on built-in codecs. If you use, say, an AVI encoded with, say, XVid, you need to convert it to uncompressed AVI, before editing it.

It seems to handle mpg/wmv/asf/etc. OK, though.

Been using this for a couple of weeks, now.

It's rather good.

Free for personal use.

That's one of the tools Old Spikey uses, so it's known and trusted - although in the wrong hands, like all powerful tools, it can cause chaos. Smiley

Useful little freebie for tweaking some of the Aero settings in Windows 7  Yup

http://www.intowindows.com/tweak-windows-7-aero-settings-with-aerotweak/

Download page is here:

http://www.inf.ru/category/programmyi/aerotweak/

I would manually make a system restore point first before tweaking  Wink
A system reboot maybe required to apply the settings  Kiss

For people with 'home' editions that looks useful - assuming it's clean.

For people running professional editions they already have that functionality build into Windows 7 - run gpedit.msc from a console.

I use this little prog for monitoring the cpu temps.
I know software monitoring of BIOS sensors are not really that accurate, but, it does give you and idea of temps, plus, if your cpu cooler starts to clog up or the fan starts failing you will notice a rise in temps as a warning to fix it fast.

http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

and this is another one I use too for more moitoring fun:

http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/

Plus this nice little gadget for monitoring temps on your GPU card(s)-use one per card- so you can see how hot it is when under load.

Just thought I would pass on these little gems for those who don't have them and might be interesting  stoned

You need this in your toolbox...

http://www.majorgeeks.com/Recuva_Portable_d5514.html

It's a file recovery utility that can do more than most - like rebuilding unsaved word files from their temp files etc...

One day, it'll dig you out of the guano.
