I know, another miserable poem from Langston. Here it is anyway...

Visions of You

I walk by the shops as
countless faces go about
their business regardless.

Suddenly the world brightens
and I feel joy begin to flow
through my body as I glimpse
your beautiful face once more.

The joy lasts for only the
split second it takes for
me to realise
it is not you,
it is never you
and it will
never be you
ever again.

That heat gathers around
my eyes but to cry would
not really be appropriate
in such a public place.

I can never see enough
of your face but all this
misguided recognition is
wearing me down.

Every imagined glimpse
of your face an unnecessary
reminder of your
permanent absence.

And yet
day after day
I keep on
looking.

Looking for you.

Thank you if you made it this far,
Love and best wishes,
Your Friend,
Langston.

Thank you, Babs.

Some poems need to be dragged out, some just come along and punch me in the face saying 'write me down'. That one did just that, so I did.
