Probably wrong terminology, and Googling getting me nowhere.

An old problem, but trying to come at it from new direction.

Most of my music videos show a scene from the video in my music videos folder. VLC is my default player and a small vlc cone symbol appears in the right hand bottom corner of each thumbnail, no problem.

But on a few, there is no picture in the folder, just the big VLC symbol, and the name of the video below it.

How can I select a still from the video to display in the folder instead of the default VLC symbol?

If you see what I mean. see enclosed.

 thank you

I used to use clichés all the time, now I avoid them like the plague, these days a cliché to me, is like a red rag to a bull.

have you tried playing the video part through & then se if a thumbnail appears
I seem to remember that if it is a file type that isn't natively enabled in VLC it won't display a thumbnail

I have played it a few times.  Undecided

There is loads of stuff on YouTube on how to change the thumbnail of a video you upload to them, but I can't find much on how to do just a normal one.

If I change the default player for that type of file to MPC, I get the enclosed.

 Sad

that is showing taht there is something wrong with that particualr file & it is very likely corrupted
Any chance of downloading a new copy of it

if 2 different players can't dispaly a thumbnail, then it isn't you ( or Norman) but the file
