I'm back... managed to talk my way into coming home. Knackered as I didn't get any sleep last night.

Thanks everyone for the wishes and thoughts... off to bed and I'll chat tomorrow when I can get some more breath back. xxx

Glad to see that things are at least under control and you are where you feel comfortable and where you are loved.

Julie and I have had some scares lately, but none as bad as not being able to breathe.

Hi folks... feeling a bit better today. Had a slight panic as I decided to choke on some crackers and cheese just before bedtime last night. Managed to control the breathing (after a mild panic) and got some welcome sleep. Lots of meds to take. an inhaler for breakfast along with a water tablet (diuretic) and 6 prednisolone (steroid?)... though the steroids are hopefully only for 5 days.

Magic was glad to see me and I was much happier to be home with Richard and the cat. The hospital ward (medical assessment unit) was like a combination of a lunatic asylum and Jerry Springer show! Seriously... Very scary.

Think I'll be having a lazy day today.

Again... thanks to all of you. The messages made a real difference.

Prednisolone is a corticosteroid, Julie has to take them for an eye problem.

I've only just become aware of this, and send good greetings to you Babs, so here's hoping that you have now recovered enough to take control of Genial Host again.  Grin
It must have been extremely scary for the both of you, and I guess you felt pretty helpless while all of this was going on, as I darn well know I would have been had it happened to me.
I also like some crackers + cheese at night whilst watching some telly before my eyes clang shut and I nod off, so I am going to be a bit wary now after your scare.

Hopefully your treatment will control things, and I guess you will need further medicines/pills to carry on that treatment ?.

Meantime, here are a few flowers:.... Flowers Flowers Flowers Flowers Flowers Flowers Flowers Flowers Flowers Flowers and best wishes for your full recovery.
Oh, and make sure Genial Host pampers you, as I am sure he will, but just have a little bell beside you to ring for your requests, and something heavy to throw if he doesn't obey.. Grin

It'll be a while yet before she has the strength to throw anything heavy enough to get my attention, it's fucked her up good and proper.   Cry

It takes her 30 minutes of coughing and gasping to recover from a journey upstairs to the loo, we'll need a cab to the surgery only 1/2 mile away, and a wheelchair to get to the hairdressers in the morning as she can't even walk across the courtyard. At one point last night I thought we were going to need the ambulance again, but thankfully we managed without.

When we're at the surgery I'm going to ask them about an oxygen bottle with a nebuliser-mask to keep at home... that'll make it much easier to cope with, knowing we've got a first response of our own on site.

This is what smoking is doing to you as well, bit by bit - keep that in mind when you next spark up...

Yep, my lungs are not as efficient as they used to be, and I can't do all the walking that I intended to do when I retired, but that is my choice to keep smoking, so only myself to blame... Smiley

But good idea to see if you can get a small oxy bottle for instant help should things get worse again.

It is a bugger when someone you love is suffering, and you (or I would) feel pretty helpless to make it all go away.

Anyway, I hope you will keep us all posted, as I am sure 'we' are all hoping for a full recovery in the near future.

Back from the docs... higher dose of steroids and diuretic... antibiotics and another inhaler. Things usually seem to get worse before they get better. A bit of a dodgy night but I'm feeling more confident about it all today.  Smiley Fingers crossed that it gets better from here on in.

Thanks, Kitty.    wave

A bit of a bounce back down today but I'm still breathing. All the various pills make for an unhappy tummy... but better that than not breathing.

It's surprising how everyones wishes and prayers helped. Richard printed them for me to read in hospital... tearful time.

Looking forward to the end of the pills!

As long as your 'caregiver' is 'patient'.....

He is usually 'very' patient...    Yup

The trouble is that I don't like being fussed over and still want to carry on as normal.

Managed a quick trip into Bristol on Saturday to the phone shop and I survived that.

Last of the antibiotics today and finish the steroids tomorrow. Hopefully they have done their jobs. A day or so will soon tell. Compared to a week ago I feel soooo much better.    Smiley

Agreed, there is nothing worse than being fussed over when you are not feeling too good, but secretly it is still quite nice.. Grin

Anyway Babs, I see you are posting again with your sense of humour intact, so that is good, and a case of more is good.... Grin
Glad you are on the mend, and having a trip out must increase your confidence that things are getting better, and that little trip will probably aid your recovery as well as the medication.
It also shows that Genial Host is not the grumpy old bear that he tries to make out he is, and seems to be doing a damn fine job in helping your recovery.... Raises hat Flowers Flowers Flowers wave

I'm still not 'right'... but I'll get there. I will feel a lot more at ease when tests are completed and I find out just how FUBAR I am.

Went back to the Docs this morning just to make sure things were heading in the right direction. They are.

I don't think I realised how hard it had hit me.
