I have been well off the boil creatively for some time. So today I decided to see if a trip to Bristol Zoo would kick start things. We'll have to see how the next week or so goes to know if it worked, until then I've uploaded 58 of today's photos to this online galleryI am aware that a few of the photos are technically rather poor, but I felt they were sufficiently interesting to make uploading them worthwhile. We must have almost bumped into you today - we used the zoo bus to get up the the Downs, hung around the bridge a while, then wandered back into town via Clifton.
You know how sods law works?
Today I was travelling light - I'd put a short fixed lens on my SLR and carried my G12 in case I needed any macro shots for flowers etc. I carried no zoom lenses whatever.
This being the case I suppose it was almost inevitable there'd be a Kestrel hunting right beside the bridge within clear view... although I don't feel too bad about that as they're fairly common.
The one that had me a little bit frustrated was a much rarer sight - a Golden Eagle! He was soaring about a mile downstream, outline clear enough to be easily identifiable but well out of range of the gear I'd got with me.
I think I'll have to make a special journey with a long lens and a tripod - there's a good chance of the Kestrel being there regularly at least... the Eagle less so as they have very large territories.
