http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/national/aussies-asked-to-take-in-asylum-seekers-and-be-paid-for-it/story-e6freuzr-1226345201172

I had an email and had to see if it were based on truth............it is.
Could be a nightmare for anyone taking in these people, what with their special foods, getting the prayer mats out at certain times.
I guess it won't be long before some nitwits in this country decide this is a good wheeze..........perhaps Cherie Blair might like to collect some more money by giving rooms to the thousands of illegals already here, in her many houses.

Anyone of you willing to collect some rent on your spare room(s) for these spongers, if this brainless idea takes off here ?.

It's easy to forget, in this context, that every white person in Australia is there illegally... every single one of them.

Granted we're the ones who put their ancestors there, but the land didn't belong to us when we used it.

Maybe we should offer them all a chance to come 'home', along with the rest we scattered to the four winds over the years?

None of them 'belong' where they are...

Perhaps the same can be said about America, as many of the founders sailed out from Cowes.  Grin

But that is old history now, and I don't like the way things are going in Australia, as the same sort of daft ideas could be implemented here.
If so, how many rooms will you make available to welcome and look after someone (or more) has managed to struggle all the way from Somalia, Afghanistan for example before feeling safe in the UK. Aren't asylum seekers who are supposed to be afraid for their lives seek refuge in the first 'friendly' country they come to ?
It appears that many thousands do not feel safe until they smuggle themselves into the UK, and in the case of Australia, people there could rent out rooms in their homes for $300/week.... Grin

Funny old world...... stoned

They are - but that 'first country' often takes advantage of the fact most don't know their rights (or that country's responsibilities) and offers them safe transit instead.

The problem of France actively subverting our border controls at the Channel Tunnel are well documented - and there will come a point where it pays us to just brick the bloody thing up.

Too true...........most countries that these escapees cross are only too happy to give them instructions on how to head off for the UK.

I agree that the UK should offer sanctuary for people who really are in fear for their lives, but that should have come to a stop after WWII.

Now, only immigrants who go through the proper channels to want to come and work and live here should be accepted.
All the rest should just be sent back to wherever they came from, since they don't seem to fancy many other 'friendly' countries until they have trekked through them before arriving here.

When the Government actually manage to try and get shot of some, they just scurry to some human rights lawyer who will eventually get them the right to stay because they have managed to get some woman pregnant, or made friends with next doors cat whilst lazing about watching cricket on their 52" plasma TV's.
