Here Kitty Kitty...

This is because it was filmed in black and white.... Grin
It was filmed in 1987.

It was Roy Orbison and friends which included Tom Waits, Bruce Springstein, Elvis Costello on guitars with Costello also on harmonica. In the backing singers were KD Lang and Jennifer Warnes...........those were the faces I recognised.
There were more musicians there too.

It was on for an hour but I missed the beginning.
It was wonderful enterainment and saw some of my favourites like: Oh Pretty Woman, In Dreams, Only the Lonely, Running Scared, It's over, but missed 'Crying' unfortunately.
So nice to see him and his backing band and singers all enjoying themselves as did the audience..............and me.  Grin
No flashing lights and fancy effects, dancers buggering about all over the stage, and some singer bellowing out their songs with wide open gobs and dangly tonsils in full view.

The 'Big O' could sing without hardly moving his lips, but with a powerful voice into the bargain, and no prancing about relying on autotune or miming to a backing track.
That's how it should be done............but that's just old fashioned little me.  Grin

Yes silly me, I found I could watch it on iPlayer, and forgot to mention that. I must be getting old.  Grin

I don't know if you would watch it, as RO might not be your kind of music, but if you do, it will be an hour well spent.

I'll give most things a try - I liked a lot of the stuff he did with the Wilburys, and I'm pretty sure Babs would be willing to give it a try too.  Yup

Yes, my favourite is 'End of the line'............that one gets me every time with the rocking chair + guitar.
We are of different musical eras, and I grew up with the birth of rock and roll pop music, with my earliest record being Paul Anka and 'Dianna' 45rpm record in 1957 on probably a Dansette record player.
And so it began.............learning to 'Jive' was fun too.
Happy days.  Grin

Yes, although I caught the tail end of the Beatles things had moved on a bit by the time I was old enough to choose my own music...

Hard rock, heavy metal and progressive on the one hand, and Dad's jazz mates all arguing about the where to draw the line... hard bop was jazz, funk wasn't... but what about people like Herbie Hancock who came from jazz roots and played music with a groove you could dance to? Was it jazz?

I sat in on a few stoned sessions where they argued that right through the night!  stoned A wee dram stoned Black & Tan

What about fusion bands such as Weather Report? The rockers called it jazz, the jazz men thought it was probably rock... I didn't care what it was called if I liked it, I didn't need anybody's permission  Roll Eyes

I was never much in the way of liking jazz or folk music. The Dave Clark five and the Beach Boys were more my style. Plus many other bands and singers that I grew up with.
Although, an unusal hit was Aker Bilk with 'Stranger on the shore' was a massive hit in 1962. So back then it wasn't all rock and roll.
There was a big hit with an instrumental called 'Seagull' I think and I don't have a clue who performed it, and possibly I have the title wrong, and one of my favourites.

I suspect you're talking about Albatross, by Fleetwood Mack

There is a tune called Seagull, but it's a little bit later and isn't an instrumental... that's by Bad Company.

That programme you mention, Baron - I saw the last 15 minutes or so of what I assume was a prelude hour to yours, which was full of little interviews about the man, with musical interludes. You might find that on iPlayer, too?

Genial Host........ Raises hat spot on.

Crikes, thanks for that, for some senile reason I keep forgetting to check iPlayer for these things........I will do so tomorrow.
I like RO as he seems to be a genuine chap and a bit shy.
Plus he has had a lot of tradgey during his life.

Sadly missed....by me anyway.
