Title: Individual 'Themes' for 'Regulars'
Post by: Obblie on Jan 21, 05, 11:58 AM
OK I've finished fiddling and I can now make Individual Themes for Our-Local Regulars.

I am imposing the threshold of Regular, because I want it to be something special, as a reward for contributing to our community. The theme will be named after the person it is for. All themes will still be available to all members, there can be no restriction on who uses them.

It does require a little bit of modding, but not much. The most work is with the background and creating the theme. As much as possible I would like the new Individual Themes to work with the default set of colours and buttons. If you do not want a background image, only a different background colour, that is not a problem. All themes will have the new Our-Local logo at the top.

So Regulars and Barflies, please let me have a suitable jpg, or a colour number for solid backgrounds and I will create you your own theme.

Please Note: I am not prepared to make themes out of unsuitable images and reserve the right to decline or modify anything that I deem unsuitable.

I didn't realise I'd been so prolifically boring, sorry. :(

Some thoughtful Obblie put an email addy in his siggy... so you could ignore it. :P

A: Didn't know that he wanted them sending that way.

B: His e-mail people might have a limit on the size of attachments.

C: Might've been easier for him if I put a link to the files on my webby.

D: I was being considerate! (I might've fooled you, with that bit) :D

Duly sendified.

None of your posts are boring KAT

I look forward to being enlightened by your words of wisdom daily

and Obblie can you lose the spikey things from large fonts please, they are almost as annoying as the Toby Jugs were and they look orrible when they get overwritten by the text

Why, thankyou, Derek. I just sorta amble along, seeing what's doing and reacting, really. Much like I live life, now.

Bit sad, really.

Still, give us a month or two and we'll be sorted, hopefully.

It's all getting rather depressing, really...

OK Kat, you have a theme, not sure that the Jack Daniels works very well though.

Seems a little disjointed, with bits in odd places, mate. At least, it does on 800x600.

Tiz certainly pretty, though. VERY readable, too! Actually looks quite classy!

It needs tweaking, but it's a brilliant start. Thanks!

All I did was to paste them both onto the same background and fill in the spaces. It is a bit busy though. I is 800 wide, so should fit.

Yeah! I've had the homepage on auto-refresh, watching it develop!

That's kinda sexy!

Can I ask...

Is it possible, without doing too much work, to make the actual windows dark brown/black/dark grey?

Or, even, the gold colour that JD use?

It's looking good, mate. Looking good.

Thanks!

Cosmic, man...

Tell you what...

When you're satisfied with the JD theme, I have several contacts at JD, themselves. I get some wicked Christmas cards and stuff, from them and they're absolutely dying to get me over there, for a visit, for some reason. They might well like to see it. There MIGHT be a plug on their site in it, for "Our-Local", too, if you fancy it...?

This isn't "If I...", or anything. I've already made enquiries. No promises, obviously, but...
Title: Re: Individual 'Themes' for 'Regulars'
Post by: Obblie on Jan 22, 05, 01:31 PM
All the new colours that I've 'picked' come from the JD No.7 bottle

I'm on the case. Might take a bit of time, but I'll see what I can do...

If anyone can break rules it is Richard and I  :trans:

In appreciation of Kat passing the 1000 post milestone I have made a complete theme out of Jack Daniels for him.

All the colours in the board come from the bottle of Jack Daniels on their website and the background is one of their advertising posters.

May I thank Kat on behalf of Our-Local for his enthusiasm. :ra: :ra: :ra: :kissbutt: :kissbutt:

On my travels in the last few weeks I had to venture into the MSI forums (spit), I didn't find what I was looking for, but I did like their default skin, any chance of it being made available over here, or is that unlikely?

Just thought I'd ask...... ;)

Edited to add the addy for MSI http://forum.msi.com.tw/index.php?sid=

Obblie is the fiddlemeister, I see no reason why we can't do it if it's based on a template we already use... assuming it works on this version of the software... they're a couple of updates behind the times there!

It'll possibly be a matter of copying what's there as closely as possible, as he won't have access to their server to see the actual files.

Title: Re: Individual 'Themes' for 'Regulars'
Post by: Derek on Oct 13, 05, 12:13 PM
That is easy to do it's based on the standard template and does work on 1.05

all he needs to do is borrow the css from
http://forum.msi.com.tw/Themes/default/style.css

and make a new copy of our default theme and use that css instead and add the top banners for our-local

Sorry about the bump (not!) another aspect of the themes option is extra buttons. If you look at my theme you may (or may not) notice that I have inserted a couple of extra buttons. So if you want extra buttons in a custom theme, just ask.

You have the 'Go Up' & 'Go Down' buttons and they work ....... sort of...... They work if down follows up or up follows down. The Mark Read one confusels me. All the pages that display posts have Mark Read buttons top and bottom already.
