Unsubscribing
« on: Oct 29, 10, 04:05 PM »
I know I have addressed this before, but, is it just me who thinks the inability to unsubscribe to a thread is a weakness in the software?

I know I can unsubscribe the email bit, but not the "replies to your posts" bit.

 as I see it  :-\

I understand that it is not a forum specific feature, but the underlying software.

I used to use clichs all the time, now I avoid them like the plague, these days a clich to me, is like a red rag to a bull.

Still, things must be looking up. Liverpool won a football match. What more could you want?

Was Liverpool not Everton at one time?  In the funny shaped ball scene at least

Looking at this matter again, ( the initial thread topic ) I have followed the instructions given and am no longer subscribed to "bad jokes only", yet still when I click on "show new replies to your posts" I  get it listed.

So am I doing something wrong, or was my initial point correct?

What you're describing isn't the same thing as unsubscribing... unsubscribing stops you being notified, it won't stop threads being listed by any other means.

Thank you for that Richard  :hat3: that's what I meant to ask in my initial post of this thread, I just worded the question badly. ( obviously ).

By the way Ray if you are being "Notified of replies" to specific threads you can also goto the given thread, and at the top of the thread you will see NOTIFY - click that in the subscribed to threads and it will ask you Want to disabled notification x

You can also use it to subscrube to new threads you want to follow x

Thanks for that.  :hat3:

But once again I say, that method only stops email notifications, it does not stop the thread appearing in "replies to your posts"

I appreciate I am explaining myself very badly, as nobody can understand my question. I will graciously retire Hors de Combat, or summat  ;)

ps I do appreciate all the help people have tried to give me in this matter. :hat3:

you can't stop it appearing as a reply to your posts. That is an inbuilt feature of the software, which keeps a record of your posts
you can choose not to use that feature & use the "show unread posts since last visit" instead and that way you will see all new posts & once read or marked read not be shown them in the list agian
