Crap picture on new Samsung UHDTV
« on: Dec 03, 15, 12:56 AM »
Bought a new smart Samsung TV. Very frustrating that, apparently, the picture quality that you see in the shop is in no way what you get when you watch at home. There are so many variations offered, depending on what type of programme you are watching. Sport, Movie etc.

There is even an option to sync the sound with what you are watching. What the f**k.

Does anyone out there have a solution?

Waste of money IMO. Never had this hassle on any previous tellys.

If the problem is reception then check out your aerial, dish or whatever you use.

Is it an HDTV or does the HD need to be enabled?

Anyway... your best place to ask these questions is the shop where you bought it.

Go here... http://www.samsung.com/us/support/video/uhd-tv
and download the manual for your television and read it. You can search using the model number of the television.

That page is a good place to start... just keep reading.

There is nothing in the instructions to tell you how to get a picture you are going to like other than fart about with settings till you are happy. I have spent ages with the settings and am still not happy. Previous tellys have always suited when I got them home. I.E. No adjustment required. Why should a so called Smart TV need to be mucked about with till you are happy? Extremely frustrating. Might get in touch with Watchdog.

Not at all. But, then, my telly's an old Trinitron and fiddling with the colours and stuff's dead easy.

Waste of money IMO. Never had this hassle on any previous tellys.

We have two Samsung smart TV's, one in the lounge and one in the bedroom. Bedroom one is older, mostly used for breakfast news and BBC iplayer. Rarely bother with HD because normal picture quality is good, if we run Iplayer in HD lipsynch is out and we cannot adjust it. Lounge one we've had a couple of years, new enough to have built in Freeview and wifi, run it with a Samsung soundbar. Rarely watch live TV, except for Strictly and good quality drama (no soaps). When we do it is almost always in normal mode. Do like to to watch iPlayer in HD and can adjust the lypsynch on the soundbar remote.

So in answer to your question Has no one else had the same problem, the answer from Wales is no.

Have you followed through with what Babs suggested?

Have you tried cleaning your glasses?  :bolt:
