Diets
« on: Jan 16, 17, 10:07 AM »
In common with, I'd imagine, a number of people following Christmas Julie and I are dieting. This is particularly difficult when you still have leftover Christmas cake ....

We are both similar height and build and want to lose between 2 and 3 stone, but gradually.

I found an online site that gives you options to lose weight, maintain weight or gain weight. It doesn't tell you what to eat unless you ask, it displays a breakdown of what you enter as eaten and how that affects the targets for what you have entered re your target weight etc.

It is based on kCals but displays carbs, protein, fat, sugar, salt, five a day and alcohol data. The website gives you the most information but you can also use an app on Apple or android devices with it. It even includes a barcode scan function to add easily stuff not already in their lists.

We tried the trial week and liked it, apart from my android app crashing on a number of occasions, so have now signed up for 3 months.

This is the website http://www.nutracheck.co.uk/

Sounds like a good regime, hope you both reach your targets.

I was told to follow the GI diet, but a bit hard to stick to.  ;)

I'm a bit lacking in that area as well but come longer and warmer days I'll get in a bit of gardening.

Yes gardening is my main activity also, but the pinched nerve in my neck has put a stop to that lately also.  ::)

Ouch, that does restrict options a bit.

Funny thing... I'm intolerant to fruit and a lot of veggies, too. I must be a dietician's nightmare! Only ever got overweight when my first wife deliberately fattened me up, to make me unattractive to other women (Her words). Odd woman...

I don't do meal times, though. I eat when I'm hungry and don't bother, otherwise.

Wow she really was insecure wasn't she.  ::)

As long as you get the nutrition you need is the main thing, .... I'm having trouble getting Tony to eat enough, he seems to have no appetite at all & is just skin & bone & his trousers almost fall down these days.  :-\

 :-[

I have trouble with trousers. If I have my belt tight enough to keep them up, it hurts my stomach. Can't wear braces, coz of my shoulder.

The plod would have something to say if I didn't wear any...

I had thought of that. Not seen one of those, for years!

I've got to the stage where I think I need a body-transplant. Except for one part. Seems most other models, of that, are rather small. ;)

You were probably thinking that as I hadn't posted an update I'd given up on it. Far from it, slow but sure progress. Weighed this morning at 13st 4lb, about half way to my 12st target weight. Most of it has gone from my belly, pretty good on my 5 a day but not on booze units as you can include G&T as part of a calorie controlled diet  :juice:

Took a sly look at the scales this morning and my  :woot: has put me in Julies bad books. By 0.4lb I'd slid under the 13st, despite the excesses of her birthday weekend.

You would have been more comfortable in the Hippodrome seats.

Since I was diagnosed as being lactose intolerant, I've never fancied goat's milk, for some reason. I bit the ol' bullet and wow! It's great stuff!

Pity it's expensive, by comparison. Though, as lactose-free milk ain't so cheap, either, it's not so bad. More yummy, too.

We have fallen off of the calorific wagon of late, the death of my mother has meant that me/we have had to both travel up and stay and also deal with the stress generated. OK we have had excessive bottles of anesthetic but not being able to prepare your own food also stops you both controlling and knowing what you have eaten.

The funeral was last Thursday hoping to get back on track this week.

I've never tasted goat's milk, maybe one day.  :)

I think you can be excused Obblie for those calories you couldn't control,
well that's the worst part over with, a sad time indeed.  :(

You can get back to your routine again now.
