Just a moan and groan about my stupid laptop..
« on: May 31, 18, 10:47 AM »
I have a Toshiba Satellite something, and it is just the worse thing I bought when buying it a couple of years ago to replace my Nexus 7 (2012 and the 2013 version), as it has a bigger screen.
I didn't take a lot of notice about its specs, and just got one from Argos.

Anyway, it pissed me off last night when I went to use it as there were MS updates, which took from 20:15 - 22:00 (give or take a minute or so) so an hour and 45 minutes to update the fuffing thing after the updates and answering some bloody questions about apps and adverts and crap.
Geez I reckon windows 98 updated faster than this bloody thing..
But when it works, it is not that bad, if a bit slow, and I only use it at night/morning for YT videos, so I am not asking it to do anything that incurs a bit of work.

Luckily I had recently charged up my Nexus, so was able to continue watching some early 'Taggarts' that currently keep me amused.
The 2012 charged up just fine but the 2013 one appears to be a bit dead.

There, I feel a bit better now.......... ;D

Argos has always been a crap place to buy anything to do with computers. IMHO.

Generally not had a bad experience with buying stuff from Argos - reasonable prices - but it was my choice to buy this laptop, without checking out what it was capable of.

Now with this latest updates, I have to sign in every time I start it up.

I used 'netplwiz' but I don't have the option untick the box 'sign in etc..' as it doesn't show up, as I used to do this, then fill in the password -twice - confirm, and job was done, it booted to the desktop without having to stick in the password.

I know it only takes seconds, but it just annoys me..... ;D

BTW, sorry for not being able to meet up with you and Jenny mate, as after bad night, I overslept and buggered things up.
That's the problem of going senile !

Hmmm no CD/DVD drive.
I would need to blatt the built in recovery partition or whatever needed when I want to reset it back to factory settings.
Sounds complicated..... ;D

I have plenty of Win 7 discs/USB for installing, different from the one currently installed mit keys.
