Updates

Since getting a new computer after the old one died & got a Lenovo desk top,  with the updates my screen keeps changing & starting again & have to switch off for an hour or two before it settles in.  The Lenovo is 2tb & 8gb ram, the screen is a Ben Q with an HDM1 connection also, could the computer still be cluttered with a lot of files, or would there be another cause ?.

I will leave this to Kat, as I rarely use W10 now, except sometimes booting it up for any updates, and then back to Win7.... ;D

I dumped W10 as it was/is so awful.

When you say that the screen changes, what do you mean, exactly?

Anything like this?

Hi Kat,

the screen just keeps going from black to the Lenovo screen very second, ... I'll get my daughter to look into that solution page next time it happens as it looks a bit complicated for me these days.

Thanks for your help as always.  :D

Coincidence? I just helped another chap, with a very similar problem.

Can you try charging the battery to full, then take the battery out and leave it for quite a long time (Overnight?). Then, in the morning, put it back in and see how you go.

Cured his!

Just the big bugger. You MIGHT have a small CMOS battery, somewhere. If you have, you'll have to take things seriously apart, to get at that. Don't worry about that one.

I had a look in my old computer when it died & saw a small battery the size of a watch battery, I thought they would have been at least half an inch wide.  ???

Yeah, that was a CMOS battery. It keeps the BIOS settings and the clock going. That's about all it does.

I imagined that was what kept the clock going.  ;)

Back in the olden days, it used to be similar to the AAA batteries. God, that shows my age...

Nah Yvonne, you are far too young.......... :flowers:

As for CMOS batteries, some motherboards made them a bit of a bugger to get at and change in my earlier years.
Designs have change a bit since then, so mine is dead easy to get at.

Flattery will get you everywhere.   :D

Without having to pull everything apart would be easier.  ;)
